How De Halve Maan Brewery revolutionizes sustainable beer production

Discover how Veolia Water help this brewing company with our innovative water purification system and our commitment to sustainability

At Veolia Water Technologies, we're proud to showcase how our innovative solutions helped Brewery De Halve Maan achieve remarkable sustainability milestones. This historic brewery, located in the heart of Bruges, has transformed its water management practices with our state-of-the-art water treatment system.

Unique infrastructure solution

Our innovative approach went beyond traditional water treatment. We developed a groundbreaking system connecting the historic brewery in central Bruges to their bottling facility on the outskirts through four specialized pipelines. This unique three-kilometer pipeline network efficiently transports both beer and water, demonstrating our commitment to creative, sustainable solutions.

Comprehensive water management

The heart of our solution lies in a multi-stage water treatment process. Starting with preliminary filtration to remove brewing residues, the water moves through our advanced anaerobic reactor, where organic materials are transformed into valuable biogas. The subsequent aerobic purification and ultrafiltration stages ensure exceptional water quality, while our reverse osmosis system produces water so pure it meets drinking standards.
